I couldn't find this question (after 5-6 pages). I'm considering a single head with a 2x12 cab. A buddy in my band has a rectoverb but feels it "runs out of headroom" on the clean channel. This could be due as much to the active pickup in his guitar (Charvel Model 4) as the amp. Would the 2x12 cab have any more headroom than the combo? (combos are just getting too heavy for the old guy). I don't really think I need a dual (let alone a triple).
