I have a Single Rec myself, fantastic amp. Wouldn't live without it.
My understanding is that they NEVER offer discounts. They even have a policy with the dealers over here in the states to never sell their new amps at anything but the list price. I remember that when I worked at Guitar Center. So, as far as I know, you'll never find a new one discounted - not from a dealer that wants to keep their Mesa contract. There are a lot of good used amps you can find though. Ebay ebay.com is a great place for that. I look on there all the time for used stuff. Does anyone else know of any change in Mesa's list price policy that I'm not aware of? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? |

Thanks for the reply. Thing is I am looking at getting the new Lone Star. $1499 is the list, which is not bad, but our exchange rate is around 6.9 to the dollar so it ends up being 10K plus in our currency, never mind shipping and duties. It adds up. Thanks again |

Hi Dan & welcome to the forum...Hope to see you here often.
Id have to agree - Mesa dealers ALMOST never discount prices. Your only chances (& this aint gonna happen on the lonestar) are to get a floor sample with some damage on it. OR ....I was able to purchase a brand new Rocket 44 at guitar center in phoenix for 500.00 out the door. Im not sure what list was two years ago, I think something like 650.00 or so. Anyway, I got the deal because mesa had discontinued that amp & had given guitar center the ok to blow it out the door. I have seen a few other people on the forum from other countries have the same problem as you. Im not sure if E-bay is an option...Is it..do you have to pay duties or other B/S charges? Even if shipping was a couple hundred or more it would still be cost effective. Or if you have a friend in the states who is willing to help you out you can save some bucks.. There has got to be some kind of option..Im just glad Im not in your shoes Supersecret jim - rectified

Hey SuperSecret Jim
Cheers. thanks for the warm welcome and the info. Very useful. My concern about going the ebay route is getting caught by a scam. Not in the mood to lay out a whole lot of cash, then get a piece of junk or nothing at all. Second thing is a lot of the auctios state that they will not ship outside of the USA. This is a small problem for me! Anyway, i will most probably deal direct with the factory or with voodoo amps, they also sound kinda interesting. Thanks again Dan |

Dan,
Have you tried a Lone Star yet? I just tested one out today. Pretty cool amp. I'm going to give it a quick write-up in this section. |

DannyJoe!!!!
Sorry, but that is one question I cannot answer. I haven't a @#%$ clue. My listening pleasures include, Lift to Experience, Slint, John Frusciante, Fugazi, and Miles and Coltrane. I am a music snob Certainly No Top 40! Although I will hazard a guess that it is mostly a pile of tasteless dance crap. Why the interest? |
