I&#39;ve always loved my Mark IIB. Had it since it was born (1980). And an extension cab. Both with the EVM12. I&#39;ve especially loved the clean tone. But
the distortion&#39;s never really lived up to the hype, for me. I had a mod done and it&#39;s definitely better...but I&#39;m thinking of replacing the EVM
with another speaker that might sound tighter and thicker. And be lighter. But I don&#39;t want to sacrifice... ]]></description>

I have no MESA cab yet, and have not money to buy one. (they are very expensive here in Sweden, about 1900 usd or 1300 euro)

But I have four V30 speakers and have plans to build my own cab. And I want to make a copy of the Recto cab, because it sounds awesome.

Later, when I have enough money, I will buy a real MESA cab.

I plugged it into my Marshall 1960a with Celestion 75s and was very dissapointed with the sound at max overdrive settings on channel 2. I then plugged it into my Marshall 1960b that has Celestion G12L 35w speakers. I was much more pleased with the results from the less expensive 35w speakers but now I'm left wondering.<br>Is there a certain speaker that the Mesa folks specify for best results for use with this head?<br>I know that the newer Recto... ]]></description>

I had one of those blue lonestar cabs with the black widow celestion 90's and they were cool, but could sound a little tubby, and werent that great for full on lead tones like Eric Johnson, and Vai. My cab is an older one...you can tell cause it has smooth leather opposed to the more tough mesa tolex and a completely flat &quot;mesa engineering&quot; plate opposed to the newer &quot;engraved&quot; styling. He made me a Mark I combo in blue flame maple, a Mark II head in natural flame maple, a Mark III combo in bubinga with a matching thiele cab. Wicker cane on all. Nice cabs at a very reasonable price.
